Hi-5 ABA Welcomes Michelle Hickman

Hi-5 ABA welcomes Michelle Hickman.  Michelle offers in-home ABA services to children with autism and related developmental disabilities.

Many BCBAs call rural towns “home,” but they take jobs in the suburbs or city because that’s where ABA businesses are predominantly located.  But, there are still many underserved families in the country who would benefit from ABA services.  Michelle Hickman is offering precisely that to families in Seymour, Indiana.  She opened her own Hi-5 ABA franchise so that she could provide ABA services to children in her hometown.

Michelle grew up in Indiana as the youngest of four, surrounded by a huge family.  Her dad has thirteen siblings, and her mother is one of eight.  After her older sister moved to Tennessee, Michelle followed and went to college at Lee University to earn a Psychology Degree.  After graduating, she found a local position working as a Special Education teacher.  The parents saw great progress with their children, and Michelle found her passion–working with children with autism.

Shortly after that discovery, she moved back home to Indiana where she found an ABA company. But, as is often the case in rural America, she had to commute almost two hours to visit her clients.  Over the past eight years, she went from behavior therapist to BCBA to regional director.  With the experience in leadership, management, and specializing in the field, she decided to start her own in-home ABA practice.

She enjoys building up her team of technicians so that they fully-understand ABA and have a sense of ownership for each child they work with.  Even for services that are all in-home, she has team meetings around the firepit and creates a family atmosphere.  She enjoys ABA, she enjoys training her team, and she enjoys seeing the results for the families.

Michelle married Landon six years ago and they now have two sons, Axl (4) and Jax (2).  Landon and Michelle partner in Hi-5 ABA and RE/MAX.
